About Me; Scott Thomson
Former athlete turned fat man and now former fat man turned health enthusiast.
Helping you find your inner healthy self.
The reason I started Your Inner Skinny was because during my own weight loss, I did a lot of reading and research online about how I SHOULD lose weight and I wasn’t happy with most of what I read. The reason I got so frustrated with what I read was because it was mostly people telling me I had to eat perfect every single day of my life and hit the gym 7 times a week if I wanted to get healthy and stay healthy. This did nothing more then set me up for failure, which happened many times before I finally succeeded. Once I finally realized that what I was reading wasn’t entirely true, I was able to move on with my own journey and successfully lose 100+lbs.
With Your Inner Skinny, I want to be the filter between those who say that you have to be “perfect” all the time and those who are out there looking for help and don’t know any better, simply because I didn’t have someone like me and I really could have used one! I’ve learned a lot on my journey to lose over 100 lbs, and I want to share what I’ve learned. My fails and my successes, what worked for me, what’s worked for others and any advice I can pass on along the way.
Fitness and healthy living has become a huge part of my life and right now I’m in the middle of doing my personal trainer’s certifications through the Health & Fitness Alliance as well as through CanFit Pro and I plan to make that a part of my career down the road. I put on 100+ lbs sitting behind a desk as a graphic designer and web developer, but now I want to use what I’ve learned in my weight loss journey and combine it with those skills and reach out to people to help them get healthy.
After dealing with the ups and downs for several years with trying to lose weight and having no one to talk to about it (guys don’t share their feelings ya know) I decided to start up Your Inner Skinny as a personal blog to vent about what was going on in my weight loss life. YIS has evolved and changed a lot over the past year and a half. It’s gone from a simple blog that my family and friends read when they were bored at work, to a hub where you can look for workouts, recipes, fitness tips and of course still read my rantings in my blog.
Follow me and my journey here on the blog, on Twitter and on Facebook. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them. Or if you don’t want to leave it publicly, feel free to contact me directly scott@yourinnerskinny.ca
